I grew up by the sea in West Cork, Ireland.

I’ve always been obsessed with stories so I decided to study them in university (although I secretly always wanted to be a novelist). I became an Associate Professor of Literature and taught students about Irish literature in Canada until I couldn’t ignore the stories in my head that wanted to be told.

 

As a child, I traced the maps of Narnia and kept them in my pocket in case I managed to find my way there. I spent my time searching for magical portals but haven’t found one…yet. So I did the next best thing - I wrote a story about a girl who falls between the raindrops into a watery other world full of forgotten gods and lost stories and two very dreamy frogs.
